Chairman Says
I am writing this on behalf of our Chairman, Harold Gilreath. We haven’t heard from Harold lately because his computer was hijacked and he cannot get back on the internet. So if we have a PSRA member who is computer literate and could help Harold restore his computer, please call him at his home telephone in Rogersville, Tennessee. The good news is Harold has completed his 1937 Packard sedan (except upholstery) and will be driving it to Knoxville, TN, in May.
I have been working on our PSRA membership list. We have added three new members. John Cassada from Punta Goroa, Florida, has a 1939 110 business coupe with a 383 Chevy stroker. Wayne Hamilton from St. Paul, Virginia, has a 1936 120 coupe with custom beige interior and PPG champagne beige paint. Scott Wiesen from Centralia, Illinois, has a 1939 series 1701, chevy 350, lowered 4 inches, that is under construction. We now have a total of 29 members from 15 states. Tennessee is best represented with 10 members. We have 3 members from Illinois, 2 from California, 2 from Florida, and 2 from Virginia. States represented by one member each include KY, AL, Ga, IN, WV, NC, TX, KS, MO, and MI. I will attach the membership list that includes personal information, address, telephone and email. If you cannot download and print this, let me know and I will send it to you by US mail.
The Street Rod Nationals South will be held on May 3-5, 2019, in Knoxville, Tennessee, at Chilhowee Park & Expo Center. We invite all PSRA members and Packard enthusiasts to gather at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019, for meet and greet and a group photo. We will gather at the picnic shelter on the hill. When you drive in the main street rod entrance from Lakeside Ave., go straight as far as you can, past the tunnel you must turn right on a one way drive. Follow this around to the left and up the hill to the picnic shelters. There is usually plenty of open parking in this lot.
On another subject, I would like to start a conversation in our forum section of the website about headlights. Some of us are using original lens and reflectors for that resto-look, but they just don’t provide adequate light. Dave Stanley used 7 inch Jeep lights and fabricated adapters from old 50’s or 60’s model round headlight adjusters. Has anyone used the adapters that Headwinds sells for Packards? Let me know what you are using, how well they work and I will post the responses on our website.
And last, I had an inquiry from a fellow senior citizen in New York who has a 1937 Packard super 8 that he has owned for 25 years. He wants to add power steering to the original suspension and change to an automatic transmission but leave the other running gear stock. Does anyone know how this can be done? Does anyone make an adapter to bolt an automatic transmission to a super 8 engine?
I hope to see you in Knoxville, TN.

NEWSLETTER
March 6, 2016
Chairman Says
I guess it is time to put some type of a newsletter out. I hope all of you have been checking out the web site. Wade has been working on the web site and has done a great job. You all need to check out the forum page. If any of you have any type of a technical article on your car, sent it via e-mail to Wade. He will put the article on this page. You will never know, something you do to your Packard can help another member out on their project.
The NATS SOUTH is coming up in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 6th through May 8th. As most of you know, the members that attend this event all get together and have a meeting. We always meet on the hill, where the picnic shelters are. This area overlooks the lake. There is plenty of parking on the hill. We would like all members that attend and drive their Packards, to park together on the hill. We are going to try and get Louie Mayall of Streetscene magazine to take a picture of the members Packards, all parked together. If he will do this, they might give our association a little ink. We always have a short meeting or get together at 2:00 P. M. on Friday afternoon, at one of the picnic shelters. I would like to see everyone living close enough to Knoxville, and your Packard is driveable, to make the NATS SOUTH. If your car is not ready, come on anyhow. We can talk about Packards.
We have picked up a new member. He has a great last name. Bob has joined the association and is looking for a Packard. He is looking for a 115C convertlble coupe, but he says you never know what might pop up. I sent him some information on some possible Packards for sale. Bob owns a 1968 Barracuda with a hemi engine, and a 1956 Corvette. He is wanting a Packard to street rod, or one already built. Here is the information on Bob, and you need to add him to your membership list. You can print off the membership list from the web site. Wade has already added Bob to the list.

If any of you ever want something in the newsletter, just e-mail it to me, or snail mail it. Hope to see all of you in Knoxville.

CHAIRMAN SAYS
I have been looking through the newsletters completed, and saw the last one sent out was Aug. 10, 2015. I guess some type of a newsletter needs to go out to everyone. I would like to have some input from members to put in the newsletter. You can call me (423-357-0100), or e-mail me something.
As stated, I have not heard from anyone. I called Wade Davis to ask about the web-site, and the problems he has been having with the new program he bought, and his internet provider. Wade advised it took over a month to get the new program loaded. He also stated his provider has been giving him a hard time. Wade advised when a member e-mailed a picture, his internet would shut down. Wade has got some new members vehicles on the web-site now, and is working on others. Lets wish Wade some good luck, and hope everything works out.
The car show we put on in Kingsport, Tennessee on Aug. 15th of this year went well. There were 320 cars registered. Two of our Association members made it to the show. Dave Stanley from Sevierville, Tennessee made it up, but did not have his car with him. Steve Childress from West Virginia made the show in his beautiful 1930 Packard sedan. Steve’s car was picked for the “Chairman’s Choice” award. Twenty-seven choice awards are given out at the show. Several people picking cars came up with Steve’s Packard as their choice. They were all advised his car was already picked, and they had to make another choice. Several of our members live close enough to Kingsport, Tennessee to make this show. I am chairman of this show, and I would really like to see more of you there. We are working on next year’s show at this time. Hope to have another engine to give away as a Grand Door Prize.
Dues
Good news for the year of 2016. There will not be any dues payable. We have a little money in the bank to pay for the web-site and postage. There is not a lot of postage, since I am e-mailing the newsletter. Wade Davis and I have talked about this issue. Our goal is to not charge annual dues at all. We would like to sell a couple of ads for the web-site, in order to pay web-site fees and postage. The only time any dues would be paid, is when a new member joins, they would pay only the twenty dollars to join. Let me know what you think about this issue. Wade Davis has already talked to a couple of people for the ads.
